As a child, my bike was my first passport to adventure and the clearest path I had to independence. I fell in love the first time I got on a road bike - the feeling was so like the speed and fluidity of alpine skiing, my first athletic passion. Despite some initial fears around not being quick enough to keep up, I dove into riding headfirst with the support of friends and family.
I am now in my 3rd season as a PEPPERMINT ambassador and my love for cycling has never been stronger. Why do I ride? Somehow the bicycle has become a necessary extension of myself - I no longer feel quite right or whole without it. It’s hard to explain the magic of the bike and I want to share this same magic and passion with others. The bicycle can be a vehicle for enlightenment or transformation or just a good sweat, or a distraction from the day-to-day monotony. I know now that my initial fears were not unique, and I feel a responsibility to help instill courage and passion in new riders the same way it was instilled in me. The reward from working through your fear can be incredible.
What I love about PEPPERMINT and what it represents is that it does not matter where you are in your cycling journey - we all wear the same jersey, and we all get from our bikes and the community the chance to be the fiercest, fittest and strongest versions of ourselves. We are breaking the pattern and empowering women in cycling and sport together, and I for that couldn’t be prouder to be a PEPPERMINT ambassador.
